Description

A sergeant damselfish with a blue-green back, silvery-white sides, a yellow wash on the upper body and five narrow black bars. It gathers in large mid-water groups along reef edges and rocky shores to feed on plankton, and males guard eggs on rock. Juveniles drift with floating seaweed.

In the Maldives

One of the commonest damselfish around Maldivian jetties and house reefs.
