A deep-sea black coral that grows as a sparse, feather-like colony on the sea floor far below diving depth. Its slender branchlets carry tiny polyps along one side. In the Maldives it is known from specimens and literature records from deep water, below normal diving depth. It is told apart from related species only by close examination of the skeleton.
In the Maldives
Recorded from the Maldives: museum specimens (n=1, ZMUC); literature records via OBIS (Hexacorallians of the World (Fautin 2013)).
