Description
A deep-bodied butterflyfish shaped like a triangle, pale with a fine chevron pattern, a black eye bar and a broad black tail base edged in yellow. It lives in pairs that defend territories around Acropora corals, particularly staghorn, and feeds mainly on coral polyps. It is the Indian Ocean counterpart of the Pacific baronessa butterflyfish.
In the Maldives

Dhivehi name source: FishBase common names (country: Maldives) give 'Thineskan bibee' (Latin script). Thaana from the Dhivehi Wikipedia article 'ތިނެސްކަން ބިބީ' (derived from the MRS 1997 Dhivehi edition); it matches the Latin form.
