Description
A wire or whip black coral that grows as a single unbranched strand, straight or loosely coiled, sticking out from walls and overhangs. The living tissue is often yellow, green or brown and is covered in small polyps; tiny gobies and shrimps often live on it. It is told apart from related species only by close examination of the skeleton.

Recorded from the Maldives: SeaLifeBase Maldives checklist. Only one kind of evidence was found, so it is listed as possibly present.
