Description
The strawberry hermit crab is a bright red to orange land hermit crab dotted with small white granules. It lives on beaches and in coastal vegetation, carrying a borrowed snail shell, and scavenges plant and animal matter, mostly at night. Like other land hermit crabs, it releases its larvae into the sea.
