Description
A silvery-grey trevally, greenish above, with scattered yellow spots on the lower sides and a fine white edge to the anal fin. It is typical of oceanic islands and is rarely found on continental coasts. It cruises in small groups over sandy channels and lagoon floors, feeding on sand-dwelling crustaceans, worms and small fish.
In the Maldives
Dhivehi name thumba handhi (MRS 1997). MRS notes it is almost ubiquitous at oceanic islands.

Dhivehi name source: M.R.S. (1997) Fishes of the Maldives (FAO/BOBP MAG/21) gives 'Thumba handhi' (Latin form). Thaana from the Dhivehi Wikipedia article 'ތުނބަ ހަނދި' (derived from the MRS 1997 Dhivehi edition); it matches the Latin form.
