Description
A massive coral with cups that share walls, arranged in a honeycomb or short-valley pattern, with small pointed lobes inside the cups. Colonies are usually brown, cream or green and grow on reef flats and upper slopes, often in shallow, sunny water. It tolerates heat and exposure better than many corals.
In the Maldives
Recorded from the Maldives: museum specimens (n=6); iNaturalist research-grade observations in the Maldives (n=3); literature records via OBIS (Hexacorallians of the World (Fautin 2013), IndOBIS).
