A small anthias with a bright yellow back and tail and a purple to blue lower body, with a forked tail. It forms large, shimmering schools along the upper parts of drop-offs and outer reef walls, darting up into the water to pick off zooplankton. Like other anthias, it lives in harems in which the largest female can change into a male.
