Description

A Montipora coral: one of the most common reef-building genera, with very small cups set in a porous surface that is often roughened with tiny bumps or ridges. Colonies may be encrusting, plate-like, branching or a mix of these. It is told apart from related species only by close examination of the skeleton.

In the Maldives

Recorded from the Maldives: SeaLifeBase Maldives checklist. Only one kind of evidence was found, so it is listed as possibly present.
