Description
A slender goatfish, grey to olive above and white below, with a yellow stripe from the eye to the tail and often a dark blotch below the first dorsal fin. It forms large resting schools by day over sand and probes the sand with its two chin barbels to find worms, crustaceans and molluscs. Other fish often follow foraging goatfish to snatch disturbed prey.
