Description

A massive Porites that forms large, smooth domes or lumpy hummocks, sometimes several metres across. The surface is covered in tiny cups. Colonies are usually cream, yellow, brown or greenish and grow on reef slopes and in lagoons. Big colonies grow slowly and can be centuries old. It is very hard to tell from Porites lutea underwater.

In the Maldives

Recorded from the Maldives: iNaturalist research-grade observations in the Maldives (n=2); literature records via OBIS (Hexacorallians of the World (Fautin 2013)).
