Description
A small, oval stingray, olive-brown to yellow-brown with vivid electric-blue spots and two blue stripes running down the tail, which carries one or two venomous spines. It hides under ledges by day and moves onto sand flats with the rising tide to feed on worms, shrimps and crabs. It is shy and tends to flee when approached.
In the Maldives
Common on Maldivian reefs, usually tucked under coral heads with its tail sticking out. Protected with all rays since 2014.
